My sweet husband showed up here 8 years ago to build a dream that was placed in his heart at a young age. Today he has been beyond successful in accomplishing the release of his incredible gifts. He is now leaving his practice with hopes of a continued journey in Faith and Joy! I have been helping him pack up his things and something caught my eye yesterday. I believe it was God's little message to all of us. We are so fragile if we forget to keep our eyes on Him!

In spite of what I think or feel, I am beginning to learn it is best to not resist my trials, but to welcome them as friends~
Thank You Lord that each difficulty is an opportunity to see You work!

The past several months have been the hardest/best times of my life! I cannot believe the things I have gone through personally and the disappointments Ryan and I have endured, but I know this for sure... I could not have made it through without my best friend! Thank you JESUS!!! This is my year to finally grasp what it is to be FREE from bondage!! May my life bring glory to you God!

Think Big!

Beloved Believers, I can tell you with great confidence that the very best days of the people of God are right before us, not behind us!
Recently, Jesus Christ said to me, "Bobby, I give you My personal permission to attempt to exaggerate what I am about to do!" Amazed by this, I asked Him for a Scripture reference. The Lord Jesus promptly answered, "No problem!" and spoke these verses from Ephesians 3:20-21:

Now to Him who is able to do exceedingly abundantly above all that we ask or think, according to the power that works in us, to Him be glory in the Church by Christ Jesus to all generations, forever and ever. Amen.

Consider the Message Bible's version of this Scripture:

God can do anything, you know—far more than you could ever imagine or guess or request in your wildest dreams! He does it not by pushing us around but by working within us, His Spirit deeply and gently within us.

God can do anything. And what's more, our mighty King has outstanding plans for each and every one of us, plans that are more wonderful and sure than we could "ever imagine or guess or request"! The Lord assures us in 1 Corinthians 2:9 that, "No man has ever seen, heard or even imagined the wonderful things God has in store for those who love the Lord."

Don't Get Stuck in the Same Old Ruts

God's spectacular plans for you are only for your good (Jeremiah 29:11). Even if you are facing great hardship, take heart! We have His precious promises as our comfort, joy and security. No matter what trial you are experiencing in your health, finances, marriage, children or with your loved ones, God has unimaginably great blessings in store for you as you simply turn to Jesus, to His Spirit within you and His living Word. We know that each and every one of His promises are true and His Word promises a certain, divine turnaround. All of Heaven and earth may pass away, but God's Word never fails you.
Beloved Saints, God desires to take you to new levels of victory in every area of your life. The Lord Jesus Christ wants to give you more of His wisdom so you can make better decisions (James 1:5). He longs to give you a stronger anointing so you can have greater influence for the Kingdom (Psalm 92:10). The Lord also wants to bless you financially so you can be a blessing to others (2 Corinthians 9:6-8).
I urge you, dear Believer: don't get stuck in the same old ruts of fear and unbelief. Submit to the God of peace, resist these demons and they will flee from you (James 4:7). Instead of receiving fear and unbelief, receive His precious promises as rock-solid truths and begin to act accordingly, rejoicing and giving thanks that your Father is certainly doing "exceedingly more" than you can even imagine. The Lord Jesus Christ is inviting you to lift your vision up, above your circumstances and situations, to fix your eyes on Him and His Word. As we do this, beloved, we can expect to see the glory of God fill the entire earth!
Above all else, accept His invitation to come up higher (Revelation 4:1-2) by focusing on Christ your Redeemer, Deliverer and Healer, not your difficulties. God has new frontiers of the spirit for you to explore and higher mountains of faith for you to climb.
There is so much more to life in Christ than we can ever imagine! In His Presence we find true fulfillment and lasting joy (Psalm 16:11).

In the middle of the night I laid still in my bed and asked God for one word to describe a friend that is hurting...He said, "mine." I couldn't help but ask what was one word He thought of for me? I tried to be patient and wait, but I could not shut my own thoughts off... so I drifted back to sleep. It is now 5:29am. I lit my candle, grabbed my bible and went to my knees for prayer this morning. I just opened my bible and this is what God showed me!
"How precious are your thoughts about me, O God. They cannot be numbered!" (Psalms 139:17) Many sniffs this morning!

 

This is my sweet Betty! I love, love, love you! I am so glad God shared you with me! Betty is now 81 and still on fire for the Lord!

To everyone else, it looked like Betty Chandler had it all together.

She lived in a big house, drove a pricey car. She was “high-rolling,” as she put it, and could claim a life filled with interesting turns. As a country western songstress, The Woodlands resident traveled the world making friends with presidents, celebrities and even the King of Tonga. She sang with country music icons like Hank Williams and Hank Snow.

But inwardly, Chandler suffered.

“On the outside, I smiled and sang and had it all together, but on the inside I had scars,” she said.

Sexual abuse left her feeling marred, and her early childhood was marked with a double tragedy. At 6 years old, her father died on the job. Two days later, her sister was born and passed away within days.

Just as the situation was verging on desperate, a neighbor stepped in. The family was brought to The Salvation Army, where the nonprofit gave them food and helped pay off the rent. When Chandler’s mother recovered, she went back to the office to return the favor, but the reimbursement was refused.

“The officer said, ‘No. You can’t pay us back,” Chandler said. “We gave that to you in the name of the Lord Jesus. It’s free.”

It was the organization’s kindness that has prompted Chandler to serve on Salvation Army boards for 25 years and head up her pet philanthropy project, the Salvation Army Giving Tree, in The Woodlands Mall for 14 years now.

Different lifestyles

Chandler splits her life story like a history book’s timeline — there’s before Jesus and after him. Before him was her career as a country western and big band singer. Her mother started coaching her at 3, and at 8 years old someone convinced Chandler’s mother to take her daughter to a local radio station. The station’s representatives must have liked what they heard because Chandler was asked for more.

“So I was thrust into a professional singing career when I was 8 years old,” Chandler said.

Her travels began when she was about 15. She toured the country and sang in New York City’s Carnegie Hall. She flew overseas and sang to American troops during the Korean War.

A new chapter unfolded when she was 17 and met a clarinet, sax and flute player named Cal, who had toured with big band names like Jimmy Dorsey and Stan Kitten. On their third date, Cal Chandler proposed to his now wife of 55 years.

Soon after the marriage, Betty Chandler wanted to fade from show business and have children. Cal Chandler migrated toward the life insurance business, and the couple eventually settled in Texas with their two sons, David and John.

Holiday project

At 72, Chandler is still singing and traveling to speaking engagements, but every year she takes a break around the holidays for different work—giving back to The Salvation Army by heading up the Giving Tree. The tree is filled with hundreds of cardboard angels that list a child’s or senior citizen’s name and what they would like for Christmas. Often the tags list simple requests like clothing, bed sheets or a stuffed animal.

By Christmas, Chandler probably knows The Woodlands mall’s holiday selections and specials better than many of its shops’ employees. From mid-November to late December, she wanders the shopping venue at some point almost every day from opening to closing time. She doesn’t like to hang over her volunteers, so when it’s not her shift Chandler checks out the stores and stays close by in case she’s needed.

One of Chandler’s recruits, Brenda Johnson, is a fellow Salvation Army volunteer who mans the station and comes out every year to help her longtime friend and mentor.

“She has just a heart for serving; I would call her having a servant’s heart,” Johnson said, who lives in The Woodlands Cochran’s Crossing neighborhood.

Chandler guesses she has helped match thousands of needy children and seniors with those looking to donate Christmas gifts. Past years’ successes aside, Chandler is hoping the recent economic downturn won’t affect the community’s generosity.

“Our team is really praying for that because we know that everybody is going to have a difficult time,” she said.

Another meaning for the word anointed is "chosen one." The Bible says that Jesus Christ was anointed by God with the Holy Spirit to spread the Good News and free those who have been held captive by sin (Luke 4:18-19; Acts 10:38). After Christ left the earth, He left us the gift of the Holy Spirit (John 14:16). Now all Christians are anointed, chosen for a specific purpose in furthering God's Kingdom (1 John 2:20). "Now He who establishes us with you in Christ and has anointed us is God, who also has sealed us and given us the Spirit in our hearts as a guarantee" (2 Corinthians 1:21-22).

What Causes Conflict?

There’s no way to overcome our weaknesses without knowing our strengths. Why? Almost without exception, our weaknesses are a reflection of our strengths being pushed to an extreme.
Many family conflicts are caused by viewing another person’s strengths as weaknesses. A clear view of what naturally motivates another person can open the door to greater compassion, patience, compromise, and caring.
We may think people make us angry, but most of the time they simply reveal our own selfishness. What usually makes us angry is our lack of control over people and circumstances. Anger is inevitable in a marriage. Couples who gain skills at “keeping their spirits open” to each other and at dealing with anger in a constructive way take giant strides toward intimacy.
The “issue” is the first level of conflict. If two disputing parties can keep talking on the issue level, discussing the merits of each posi- tion and thinking through possible compromises, the tension could actually be constructive rather than
destructive. Because a woman’s need for a close, meaningful relationship is often greater than a man’s, she is more sensitive to words and actions that can weaken a relationship.
There are five main reasons for conflict in the average relationship.

1. Power and control: When both parties are fighting for control or resenting not being able to take control, there’s conflict.
2. Individuality: When one person tries to change or manipulate his or her partner, and the other resists, there’s conflict.
3. Distance: When one person begins pulling away or putting up walls and defenses, he or she begins to distrust, and the need for self- preservation arises.
4. Distrust: When one or both people feel unsafe expressing their feelings or needs, there’s conflict.
5. Unmet needs: When one partner feels his or her needs are not being met, again there’s conflict.

Many will say they are loyal friends, but who can find one who is truly reliable? Prov 20:6

Even with the best intentions we still miss the mark. Our ultimate goal should be to breath life into a friendship. With the enemy on the prowl why would we ever tear people down? Satan is enough! Our battles are hard enough. We truly need to unite on every front and encourage one another. There are truly no exceptions or excuses for careless words or actions. "Fire goes out with wood, and quarrels disappear when gossip stops." (Prov 26:20)  I feel sad that I have missed the mark at times with friends, but I am thankful of God's encouraging words..."As a face is reflected in water, so the heart reflects the real person." (Prov 27:19) Thank you Lord for loving us even when we miss the mark. Your Grace is enough! Amen!

"So letting your sinful nature control your mind leads to death. But letting the Spirit control your minds leads to life and peace." (Romans 8:6)

 

"though I could have confidence in my own effort if anyone could. Indeed, if others have reason for confidence in their own efforts, I have even more!" (Phil 3:4)

Puffed up with pride never looks good~

We can only take others as far as we have gone ourselves~

For the past several weeks I have been getting up an hour earlier to spend some quiet time with God. This morning I slept 15 minutes later and realized my alarm was never set to go off at that time! I have been dashing out of my bed at 5:30 for so many mornings! Not once did my alarm go off! This may be grounds for a few tears!!!!!!!!!

  It isn't good to stay idle for too long....

Compassion for God and compassion for people produces dedication to share God's truth...

 

When "happiness is replaced with "joy"...the filling begins!

Fear and Anxiety

    You never know just how bad things are until your smothered in it! I guess I should start by admitting that I have always been a prisoner in my own mind. Thoughts of self-doubt often filtrated my mind creating a flood of emotions. 2011 was my breaking point. I guess if I could sum up one word for myself it would have been "stupid." The fear of not knowing something kept me in chains. Even praying out loud at Moms In Touch became agonizing because I felt short handed in my prayer abilities. My mind would always take me into a hole of darkness wondering what is wrong with my brain? Why am I not soaking up God's word? Why can't I pray like that? These are just a few examples, but the list is gigantic! I began this self evaluation for everything I attempted. What my mind concluded was that I just couldn't measure up to anything I set out to do. I started feeling the urge to withdrawal from everything. Quit my new business, get out of BSF and Moms in Touch, and anything else I wasn't "good" at. My closet was sounding more and more like a safe place to hide. But the problem wasn't the outside world I was running from. At home I was short fused, tired, and often overwhelmed. Even though my husband seldom caught on to my bad attitude...my heart did and I always felt awful inside. My frustration was building so much that I truthfully wanted to run from my home too. Until I realized that what I really wanted to do was run from myself. I was so tired of being me. Seems silly that a person doesn't know how to love themselves?? That was me? I was sick of my terrible thoughts about myself. I tried to take those thoughts captive, but how do you do that if you have convinced yourself over the years they are true? My anxiety was starting to rule my world. I starting feeling like all the things I cherished were being ripped from me. My anxiety and fear had hit an all time high and shot through the roof. I have dealt with this for many years, but clearly stuffing it under rug was a sure way to have it blow up in your face. Is that what happened? Did it blow up in my face? To be continued.....

...Ok! How about we finish this story now. In just a few weeks I seem to have even more clarity from God on where He is taking me. Let's first address stuffing my issues under the rug. I now think that it was actually quite the opposite. I was flinging my insecurities all over the place! God recently reminded of my "walk to Emmaus" a couple of years ago. This was where I initially dumped my self-absorption at the cross. I guess I really had no idea what all that entailed, but I knew that was what God was wanting to rid me of. Years of insecurity put the focus on myself. Matters of the heart seemed almost impossible to overcome. And my thought closet seemed unrepairable. Things have finally connected for me! God has filled me with His spirit and blessed  me with confidence that is super natural! The confidence I have been searching for all my life is nothing like what the Lord has gifted me with! The confidence we seek as earthly little creatures involves the self. God's indwelling has nothing to do with us. I have to admit that I am blown away by this! It sure does open your eyes to the whole saying of, "dying to yourself." I knew I would have to rid myself of things, but was clearly not aware of the blessings that would follow. It feels so wonderful to be free of myself! I was getting tired of being me! God is wonderful! I can see His hand moving me along in this journey. I can also see how he seemed to have sped my lesson up these past few months, but we all learn at different paces right?
Christ is our strength! His purpose replaces empty living. Where is the Holy Spirit's power evident in your life today? Have you spoken about Christ as your strength? How have you seen your ineffectiveness in life be replaced by spiritual power? Recognizing God's power is freeing!
