Lord,
I pray your word will fill every corner of my mind and heart. Please help me to receive, learn, and put into practice all that you are teaching me! May your goodness overflow through me. Help me to stay focused on the things that are true, noble, right, lovely, admirable or excellent! Teach me what a victorious-abundant life looks like Father! Thank you Lord for always being the cornerstone in my life! Thank you for loving me so freely! Thank you for the blessing of knowing you! I am CRAZY about you and love serving YOU!! Amen
When God Speaks!
A few weeks after visiting my Chiropractor and sifting through all I had soaked up from him...God decided to shine light on the subject of healing. I was sitting in the infamous car line waiting to pick up a load of kids when He quietly said, "there is no victory in constant heartache." It was in that moment that I finally understood what living in "Victory" meant! I honestly thought I had done a good job moving forward from past hurts. I was sorely wrong. I can't believe the chains I was still carrying around. All these years of knowing God and I still had not let go of my bondage. His words were as if He etched them in my heart right there. Jesus will have victory in this! I may stumble, but I shall not fall! By God's right hand I am, and will always be within His reach!!! Whatever hurts you are clinging to I pray you will lift them up right now and give them to Jesus! A life lived for him is a life lived in VICTORY!!!
So we say with confidence, "The Lord is my helper; I will not be afraid. What can a man do to me?"
Hebrews 13:6
The Lord is my light and my salvation; whom shall I fear? The Lord is the strength of my life; of whom shall I be afraid? Psalm 27:1
With His help we can push back the darkness and yell shouts of VICTORY!!! Thank you Lord for going before us and never forsaking us! Help us Father to not ponder on those bad things and instead lead us in a victorious life filled with your refreshing truth! Amen

A "lesson" in "healing"
Many of you know I have had chronic leg pain for about a year now. I have searched for answers and at times just dealt with pain quietly. It occurred to me one day that maybe I should seriously pray about which direction I needed to take in seeking help. I had my list narrowed down to two fellows; a Vein Specialist and a Chiropractor. My prayers kept leading me to seek out this Chiropractor. My first visit landed my hands in the hands of his nurse as she prayed for me in the office. I believe my healing began that day. This Dr. informed me of the culprit; my lower back! Of all things! I felt confident leaving that day that were on our way to healing.
We are up to my 6th visit and I feel sheepish that I may have shared too much baggage. I struggle all too often with my sensitive heart. I know we need to just move forward and put things in the past, but what I also know is that we all may forget certain events in our lives, but we will never forget how someone made us feel. This is where I struggle. This pool of sorrow just lurks right behind my eyes and it is so hard to stop the flood gates. I have spent so much of my life trying to "matter" and feel loved. My Dr suggested the other day to "stand in the Gap" for my mom. At first I felt excited and willing, but when I left his office my thoughts changed. I honestly thought, "Lord...I don't want to." But my new friend is right! I have too! I have to forgive and move on! What is my problem?? My problem is that I am still fighting this alone! This absolutely has to be a daily effort with "God" to ship these sorrows off! So many of you have followed me in this journey. It is funny how I finally closed the door on this toxic relationship and found great freedom. Yet, I am still dragging the relationship around.
These past few weeks have truly opened my eyes about our spiritual sickness and how it can even seep into our bodies! Oh my gosh! Girls, we have got to nip this stuff in the bud.... Give it to the Lord! He is the only one who can rid us of this sickness that is invading our very source of life! If we don't spend time with Him everyday then we are truly setting ourselves up to belly flop! His word reminds us to..."Seek me and find me when you seek me with all your heart" Jeremiah 29:13 And we know that the Lord is always with us when are with Him! Right now I am falling on my face! I am not holding onto God's hand everyday. We all come to the crossroads where we have to make a choice....I am choosing God! My heart is yearning for that closer relationship. Where is your heart right now? What are you carrying around that is hurting you physically or emotionally? If your ship is sinking like mine~> I hope this helps you.

I can't change the fact that I am super mega sensitive. I have always been that way, but I can change my wardrobe and put on my new wardrobe from Christ. We are freely given armor every day to conquer these challenges yet half us leave our homes with only one garment! Change happens when we get "out" of the way and let "God" lead. I may have stumbled a few hundred thousand times since God and I connected, but I know He is patient, loving, and all-sufficient. It just takes some of us a little longer to connect the dots! I hope your successful in connecting yours....
Feel free to give me a whack if you see me out! (We can all use a "friendly" reminder to keep in step with God) Where I am weak...He is STRONG!!!

Calling the streets "HOME"
July 30, 2011 seemed like the usual hot, sticky, day in Houston. The roads were sprinkled with cars everywhere. I 45 was busy and bustling! Today was no different than other day except today we would meet a few of our brothers and sisters that call the streets home. A group of 20 gathered together this morning with a non-profit organization called I 45&HOPE. Two drivers scale the feeders of I45 and feed the homeless along the way. What came out from the darkness was actually brightness. I wish I could share with you their smiles and love. These are people you would love! Men and women who have lost their footing. They need our love and support. So many have no one to help them out. Yet, there are some who could be pulled out, but just can't seem to grab their loved one's hand. The story below is from my dear sister in Christ, Kimberly Constant. She is a perfect example of what God can do when you release your heart, body and soul to him. The story you will read next is from her about her Uncle who also found a home on the street.
Here are some of the sweethearts that I met today: James, Ken, Sheryl, Shephard, Sanford, Lolli, Jeremy, Little York, Palmer, Tidwell, Gerald, and Stanley You can meet them and help many others by visiting~ www.45Hope.org

It’s the phone call you never want to get. The one that marks a split second in time when your life is forever changed. For my family, that phone call came Saturday morning January 9. For my Grandmother it was the news that her precious son, Kenneth (Kenny as we called him) had passed away. For my Mom and her siblings it was learning of the death of their beloved brother. For me, it was the loss of my sweet uncle, the one who called me his “boodle roodle” and gave me my favorite barbie doll. For our family, this news was doubly sad because we found out that Kenny died in a cold weather shelter for the homeless. He was only 50, but he was profoundly overweight and suffered from various ailments. That he lived on the streets did not come as a shock to us, but it was difficult to hear nonetheless. No one wants their much loved family member to die in a homeless shelter. We believe that Kenny suffered from schizophrenia, although he was so secretive that he would not allow his doctors to talk to the family, so we do not know for sure if this was the disease that plagued him. Whatever was inside his head it caused him to create two worlds for himself -- the one in which he lived each day and the life he shared with his family. He did not allow these two worlds to coexist. My grandmother would meet him once a week at a designated parking lot and she would collect his dirty laundry, return his clean clothes that she had washed, give him some money, maybe go to lunch or just sit and talk for a while. He was offered a place to live on many occasions, but he refused. We noticed that as the years past he would be a little dirtier, a little more unkempt each time we saw him -- but we dare not question for fear he would alienate us all together. And though his outward appearance changed, his inward self stayed true -- he was kind, he was funny, he was . . . Kenny. This continued on until a few years ago when my parents moved to North Carolina and my grandparents moved with them. It was so hard for my grandma to leave Kenny -- she and my Mom offered to move him too and buy him a house near them, but he did not want to go -- he did not want to leave his life. As hard as this was for our family to understand, we could only accept him and love him. My parents and grandparents now visited him annually when they went to Southern California and the same ritual ensued -- meeting in a parking lot, spending a few hours together, then off to his secret life. We knew his health was declining and my Mom told her parents to brace themselves -- that his time on earth could not be much longer. And yet, despite the fact that we knew it was coming, the phone call was still excruciating as we as a family sat contemplating Kenny’s final days and wishing we could have helped in some way.
As we all prepared to travel out to California for the memorial, I prayed and asked my friends and fellow Renew sisters to join me in praying for my grandma -- that she be released from the guilt that she had carried around all these years, that she would no longer feel like she failed as a mother. God in his awesomeness was so ready to answer. An article was published in the Whittier Daily News about my uncle and his passing. It mentioned a memorial service put together by the staff at a local church that took turns hosting the cold weather shelter with other churches (it was at a new location each week). This same church also hosts a daily soup kitchen at 3pm so that families and individuals on the streets can come and get a hot meal, toothbrushes, toiletry kits and bus fare. 80 people attended this service. The community came together to say goodbye to a man they called “the mayor.” He and his best friend, Augie, were the first organizers among this community of homeless. Before the shelter existed, there was a building where they would sleep on cold or rainy nights because it had a small alcove where they were not as exposed to the elements. Other homeless began to hear of this location and asked Kenny if they could stay there too -- “well do drop by” he would say. And so it became known as The Dew Drop Inn. As Augie told me, he sought to help others, to give them the shirt off his back when he barely had a shirt to begin with. To the residents of Whittier, California, Kenny was a beloved and well known member of the community. I cannot begin to tell you how much this article brought comfort to our family, especially my grandmother. She was beginning to realize that although he died without a home, he did not die alone or abandoned. He went to sleep surrounded by friends with whom he had carved out a life on the streets for 20 years and he passed peacefully from that place to the arms of God the Father. The load was lightened a little.
But it wasn’t until we arrived in California, until we visited the shelter and met the people who loved for him and cared for him when we could not that the load was removed all together. It was there that we saw the fullness of God’s love and grace -- his mercy -- his provision -- it was there that I would see many many examples of selfless service for the glory of God. The day before the memorial we stopped by the shelter so we could meet the people who volunteered there as well as Kenny’s friends. Story after story emerged about Kenny -- how he served others and how others served him. So many people came up to tell us that Kenny was like a brother to them, or to the younger residents, like a father. His best friend said what little Kenny had, he shared willingly. He was fond of hugs and would often ask people in the community if he could “have a hug.” They said his smile was infectious and his spirit filled with joy. Through tears I watched as my grandparents reached out to hug and be hugged by people who must be shunned by human contact all day long -- there were no lines anymore, no barriers -- they were all broken down by God’s love shown through a simple man in a simple place. The people at the shelter were those who, in the past, I would have been fearful of, or, sad to say, disgusted by, or worse yet . . . I would not have even seen them at all. But Kenny brought us together and God showed me and my family the humanity of these people -- their beauty, their kindness -- I saw them through the Lord’s eyes.
The next morning was his memorial service -- and by my Dad’s estimate, there were close to 100 people in attendance. It was there that we met the former NFL player. He told me that he came to volunteer at the shelter after it was hosted by his daughter’s school. His daughter, son and wife encouraged him to join them in serving -- and it was on this trip that he met Kenny. He said they bonded immediately over a shared love of sports and quickly formed a strong friendship. Kenny’s best friend told me that this man -- whose name was Vince Evans -- gave Kenny the shoes off of his feet one day when he noticed that Kenny’s were terribly worn. Vince said his time volunteering at the shelter has been so amazing that he now volunteers a few times a week. He took Kenny to church with him when he spoke in front of a crowd of about 300 to 400 men. He told the men his favorite story. He said that one day when he was out for a morning run he saw Kenny sleeping on a bench. He went over to him to say hi and see if he was okay. He tapped him on the shoulder and Kenny woke up. Rubbing the sleep from his eyes he said “is that you Vince? What are you doing?” Vince said “I’m running.” And Kenny said “from the cops?” Vince said “no Kenny, I’m just out running for exercise.” And with that Kenny shrugged, said okay, and went back to sleep. But best of all -- Vince led Kenny to Jesus. And when I tried to thank him for all that he did for my uncle, for my family, he said oh no I went to serve others but I am the one who was served. And the final story, the one which will stay in my heart forever, is of a woman who, for many years, brought my uncle a banana and a box of juice every morning. She even showed up the morning after he died and Augie had to tell her that Kenny had passed away. He said she cried for 30 minutes. Here was a woman who loved Kenny and served him in such a simple, yet profound way. The juice lady, as she is now known by my family, brought it all home for us. At the funeral the minister said that he hoped that through Kenny’s legacy we would each grasp the width, depth and height of God’s love -- and the juice lady showed us that. Her simple service has sent ripples through my family as those that have not yet accepted the Lord as their savior pause to wonder what would motivate someone to do something like that for a stranger. Those of us who have accepted the Lord pause to wonder how we, too, might serve in such a way. Kenny’s story has now been shared with so many -- and I wonder what each of us in this room will do with the legacy he has left. How will we serve? Whom will we serve?
While my family still grieves over our loss and still struggles with releasing the guilt we carry for not doing enough for my uncle, we also move forward knowing that the next time we serve a stranger, the next time we do some small thing for someone else, be it a member of the homeless community or not, we will be serving someone’s beloved son, brother, uncle . . . we will be serving a child of God. After the memorial was over and we as a family were sitting at the hotel exchanging stories about Kenny my grandma said “you know, I feel like I did something right after all.” As a mother, all you want is for your children to be good people, to love and be loved, to know the Lord. Kenny didn’t have any worldly possessions -- he really didn’t aspire to have any, he never married, he never had children -- but he was a good man, he loved others and others loved him, and he knew the Lord. He instilled his love in a community that was without love and from that community has blossomed hope. Hope that God really does love and care for his children, that small acts of service do make a difference, that we can greatly effect the lives of others and bring glory to God even if we have nothing . . even if we have everything. My family also has hope because now we know, thanks to the people we met, that Kenny did love the Lord and so we will see him in heaven someday. And that is the biggest comfort of all. We have hope because Jesus tells us that in heaven he has prepared a place for us that we might be there with him. So you see, my Uncle Kenny finally has a home. And not just a home, but a mansion in heaven. Its been there waiting for him all this time. And he is now healed, he is whole, he is at peace -- he is surrounded by the love of God which has no end. It is only by the grace of God that this story does not end with sorrow, bitterness, regret or anger -- it ends with hope, with love, with redemption, with a promise. And so I leave you with the word of God -- 1 Peter 5:2 “Be shepherds of God’s flock that is under your care -- not because you must, but because you are willing, as God wants you to be . . . [be] eager to serve.”

The Ultimate Wash!
Today is Sunday! Only one day later from my last post. I woke up this morning thirsty for God. I prayed first thing and jotted down as many prayers in my journal that my wrists could tolerate (P90X, sleeping with hands folded in, and all my typing this week has left me feeling crippled). Before lunch I washed my dishes and soaked in more of God's word on my ipod. All morning I have been praying for God to just help me get out of the way! I really need to stop being so aware of myself...and stop walking around with my empty cup begging for others to fill it....
After lunch, I grabbed my boys and ran a few errands. First Cvs-I bought two right-handed wrist stabilizers/needed to exchange one. Then the bank, gas station, Home Depot and finally the the car wash. On my way to the car wash I was seriously thinking about fasting to get myself into a deeper spot with God. I am willing to do what it takes to rid myself of this algae that seems to want to stick to me! We arrive at the car wash and I plop myself down on the couch in the waiting room. Within five minutes a woman claimed her spot right next to me. She was about to open her magazine when she asked if I had just had carpal tunnel surgery? (I did! I had them on at the car wash. I am sure I was a sight for sore eyes, but driving even bothers my wrists). She began sharing with boldness and confidence, her love for God and what he has done in her life. She gave God all the glory for his great works in her life (healing, hope, a journey, life!). With tears in her eyes she even told me how much God loves me. Every word was another cheer to press on and don't stop; He is worth it!
This morning I read the passage in Matthew 14, when Jesus walks on water and invites Peter to join him. Peter went first without hesitation, but then noticed the wind and looked down at the waves; he started to sink. My mind kept replaying this over and over. That is exactly what I am doing by worrying about my weaknesses.
My new sister in Christ told me again what God told me this morning...Spending time alone with God equips us to meet life's challenges and struggles. This was not an accident that I met this amazing woman today. I truly believe God is walking with us everyday. Sometimes He sends earthly angels to spur us on!
Deborah,
I can't wait to talk again! Thank you for sharing your wisdom and love for God with me today! You really did give me the "ultimate wash!" I felt an instant connection with you. Thank you, thank you for opening your heart with me today! I can't wait to share more moments of wet eyes with you!~:0))))

Breaking Out~
Hello Sisters!
This has been a busy week! I have been working overtime learning everything I can about the Rodan and Fields skincare line. This has been one of my best/worst weeks in a very long time. In fact, this all seems so silly since we are right in the middle of Beth Moore's, So Long Insecurity, bible study..I am breaking out over here in insecurity! Some of you may not know that writing is one of my greatest fears (crippling would best describe it). I find it hysterical that my blog has now become a safe spot for me. I love coming here and sharing my heart with you all. This is what truly brings me JOY!
This week has been tough because I have been trying to figure out how to use my passion (women) without destroying myself. I have written several drafts for my Rodan & Fields bio and none of them sound very "professional." I have cried and snapped more at my family than I ever have! All because I am afraid of looking "stupid." In fact, I would be lying if I said I hadn't already called myself stupid. Once again, I was pushed enough (by myself) to put my gifts and passions on the shelf and consider walking away. I just get so angry at myself when I feel unequipped. I will rip myself on one side for not doing it right and then the other side for not knowing better.
Bottom line...I am going to keep going! My heart has been thrown overboard for women! This seed was planted a long, long time ago. I have always felt a deep love for my girls (friends)! I have a "need" to share and love you guys!!
~>"Cast all your anxiety on him because he cares for you" (1 Peter 5:7)
~>"I will instruct you and teach you in the way you should go; I will counsel you and watch over you"
(Psalm 32:8)
~>"To the man who pleases him, God gives wisdom, knowledge and happiness" (Ecclesiastes 2:26)
I would love and welcome your prayers in this new adventure~

7 years ago I jumped into selling a make-up line that I seriously thought God wanted me to do. I was approached two separate times at the mall and both ladies said, “I couldn't help but notice you.” I couldn't believe it! I felt pretty special and selectively hand picked for the job. I even created little cards that invited women to first discover their inner beauty and then cultivate their outer beauty. At the time I only had a few resources to share in self-discovery. Honestly, I had no clue myself how to find that inner confidence. After a few months of training I started to learn the “all catch” phrases. Like, “I couldn't help but notice you.” I wanted to cry. My security was squandered away in a flash. After many landslides, slips, and bruises, I have finally connected the dots. I have discovered who I really am! Although I embrace the hands that have helped me along the way, I now know who's hand to grab first, God. The butterflies in my life are my family and friends! They remind me everyday that I am a new creation! Now after 7 years I am ready to embrace a new endeavor. I have partnered with the Dermatologists who created Proactive, Dr's Rodan and Fields. What they succeeded in doing for acne they are now doing for aging skin. They now have a "prescription for change." We all have skin and it is aging, 80% of it we can control! They are passionate and committed in providing safe and effective products for aging skin.
So Why Rodan & Fields? I have a passion and commitment that begins with women! I am beyond humbled by this opportunity to share an incredible skincare product and my love for Jesus. My own insecurities have left me crippled way too long, and I allowed them to! Being available for God to work through my vulnerabilities and weaknesses is over the top invigorating! Please join me August 4th to celebrate my “self discovery,” your friendships, and an amazing skincare line! Let's allow our transparencies to uncover a new foundation of confidence. You can cleanse, minimize and renew by revealing and exposing your true beauty, one regimen at a time...

His Voice
The first time I heard the voice of God was a stormy night about 7 years ago. It was the night of a womens conference at our church. The weeks leading up to this event, I had been actively searching for the face of God. I knew He was real, but I just needed a sign. I kept looking up in the sky for a cloud to move suddenly or something, not really sure what I wanted. I just know I needed to know He was really out there watching over me. I left the womens conference that night and once again was searching. My music was playing in the background as my mind searched and replayed the truths I learned that night. Somehow, as much as I tried to do my own brainstorming, one thought kept protruding into my head, "I Love You." It just would not stop! Even when I tried to move on to another thought, here it would come again with more force..."I Love YOU! I made it all the way home, pulled into my driveway and then stopped. I didn't even open my garage door yet. As odd as this may sound...I felt I was supposed to just sit there in the stillness....and wait. A few minutes later~> The roof of my house was lit up by heat lightning (not on fire) but just highlighted! I look around to see if it was happening all around me...nope! I could not believe it! It was HIM! I know it was! I didn't know many people in the area when this amazing thing happened, but I wanted to share it. My first thought was my dad, but I was afraid he may think I have lost it. So I called my newly found "Sister in Christ," Kerri Bigler. She totally got it, and celebrated with me. (I really wasn't loosing my mind)
Fast forward......6 years later.....I can't believe how much He loves me! God has been so invested in my little seed that it brings me to my knees. In 7 years He has masterfully put my broken pieces back together and created something beautiful out of wreckage~ I have never felt more empowered by the "Spirit" than I do now. He ENGULFS my heart with a passion that can only be a part of His heart! I am not sitting in the corner anymore, nor standing on the sidelines. I am not even walking. I am running at full speed toward my Father's arms. I want to serve Him with my whole heart, and if that means leaving myself behind, then I will! He does want it all, even our "limitations." I have decided to Fed Ex my "insecurities" and replace, replace, replace with God's truths! God's word reminds us that He has given us everything we need in relation to life and godliness (2 Peter 1:3) Wherever our paths have taken us, it is no surprise to God. He didn't forget to give us the skills and gifts, patience and talents that we would need to be successful right where we are. Before we were born, He knew us, consecrated us, and appointed us (Jeremiah 1 5:6) I am royalty, and so are YOU~> A true JEWEL in His crown and Daughter of the KING!!! AMEN!!

P-E-R-F-E-C-Tion
I woke up this morning still feeling like a giant turd! Embarrassed that I get caught up in these forms of idolatry. Does anyone else struggle with that restlessness in their soul? This morning I took a peek at tomorrows devotion. (I know...cheater!) It goes like this: Jesus Calling Devotional by Sarah Young
"SEEK MY FACE, and you will find fulfillment of your deepest longings. My world is filled beautiful things; (which I see all the time) they are meant to be pointers to Me, reminders of My abiding Presence. The earth still declares My Glory to those who have eyes that see and ears that hear. You had a darkened mind before you sought Me wholeheartedly. I chose to pour My Light into you, so that you can be a beacon to others. There is no room for pride in this position. Your part is to reflect My Glory. I am the Lord!" Psalm 105:4; Psalm 19:1-2; Isaiah 60:2
This is exactly why I think we need to link arms more and walk together! I would love to hear your comments on this. What are some of your struggles? The things that take our eyes off God are numerous! I think many times unintentional, but it happens. One week I am on fire for the Lord and the next week I have fire alarms going off in my mind! I can't wait for our bible study to start! I know I can't just scooby along day by day without accountability.
(My email is rmaggart@yahoo.com I would love to hear from you!) I am not sure if the comment piece is on my blog so if you don't see one~> shoot me an email! Lots of LOVE, your sister in Christ)

Tangled Beauty~
You should know that writing is one of my greatest fears! My second fear is exposing myself, but it is something that seems to come pretty easy aside from my internal thought wars! Summer is here and I have to admit that I have been obsessing about the bathing suite. I always laugh and tell people months leading up to summer that I am preparing for my unveiling. I usually miss my own personal mark. I have one sweet friend who hasn't missed any marks for her unveiling this summer. She is one of those girls you could look at all day long. I mean she is striking! Before I go on about the outer package I have to tell you that she is equally beautiful on the inside! (drats! just kidding) She is truly lovely and I have been beyond blessed by her friendship. So what's the deal with "tangled beauty?" I think I may have gotten tangled up in her beauty. By default I was wishing I could reach that level of awesomeness. I started feeling frustrated about the change purse I carry around on my belly and the lack of something up top. How does this happen so fast? How can we be walking along and then slip so suddenly? I guess the best news is that I am having a bible study at my house this summer. Beth Moore's ~So Long Insecurity...you've been a bad friend to us. I will be sure to let you all know the secrets we unlock to loosing our insecurities. I know this thought process is a waste of time and may seem pretty shallow to you. I guess in many ways maybe it is, but I also think I have a thought closet full of lies and many I believe. How do you change those thoughts? I often feel stupid in my writing skills. I never did well in school when it came to writing papers. Teachers often drew red lines through my work and sometimes rewrote it for me. I just can't help but feel stupid deep down inside. Sounds like I am tangled pretty bad! I am! I have to say that I am pretty good and tossing myself overboard:) Does anybody want to join me or are you already out there? We need a lifesaver!!! HELLO God! Amen!
I often cheat and read the next days devotional. June 5th seemed to match up nicely. This is from Jesus Calling Devotional by Sarah Young:
"REMEMBER THAT YOU LIVE IN a fallen world: an abnormal world tainted by sin. Much frustration and failure result from your seeking perfection in this life. There is nothing perfect in this world except Me. That is why closeness to Me satisfies deep yearnings and fills you with Joy. I have planted longing for perfection in every human heart. This is a good desire, which I alone can fulfill. But most people seek this fulfillment in other people and earthly pleasures or achievements. Thus they create idols, before which they bow down. I will have no other gods before Me! Make Me the deepest desire of your heart. Let Me fulfill your yearning for perfection." Exodus 20:3; Psalm 37:4
AWESOME!!! Perfect right! God is always eager to fill us with His truth and wisdom! I know perfection is probably at the center of my frustration. I can't stand it when I don't get it "right." I am a giant weenie! The consumption of WASTE must come to an end for me:) The time is here and now for all of us to throw ourselves overboard for God! I will see you when you make a SPLASH!!!!

The Last Song*
This happened a couple years ago and I was laughing about it this morning. I was thinking I should probably share the laugh with you guys! It was one of those Sundays where you are rushing and dragging your kids out of the house in order to make it on time to church. Ryan was working, so after checking my kiddos into the nursery I headed into the main sanctuary for the Sunday service. Rob Renfroe was preaching that day. I wish I could remember the entire sermon, but I think the main juice of it was when God moves~>YOU move! We are all called for something greater than what the world claims as great! Once the sermon was complete and a prayer covered us all, the band kicked in high gear! I was sitting by myself, innocently listening and taking mental notes of the sermon when it hit me like a waterfall! My heart starting beating so fast and I have to tell you that I pleaded with God to not do this. This was really going to be weird! By the second song I had not other choice other than follow those heart beats. I left my seat and headed straight for the front where the band was playing. You should have seen our pastors face as I traveled the long path to the front. I could tell he was wondering what in the world I was doing!I grabbed one of God's best clappers from the front row and swung him around to face the massive crowd. The stranger and I raised our hands high and clapped until the song was finished. I started crying afterwards and then made it back to my seat. It was to say the least...overwhelming. I not only felt amazing for doing it, but I felt retarded and embarrassed! I have to say that I do LOVE these moments. God just gets me! He knows how to reach me all the way down to my core! He moved in me that day, so I decided to MOVE with Him! When was the last time you MOVED? I think He asks us all the time...Are we listening? (I told my husband about what happened and he said he would have tried to tackle me down. We have such different walks with the Lord! Don't we all?)
In the beginning~
I just found this on my family blog! This is how it all started! Some of you may remember my evite inviting all of you on a prayer walk~> This is why!
What has God been telling me lately?
Life works better living it His way.
The ingredient of time~Practice every day.
I can do anything through Him who gives me strength.
Try your best. And whatever you do, do it heartily as to the Lord and not to men. Col 3:23
Read to my kids Proverbs at every opportunity.
Cherish the good times! Thank God profusely during those good times.
I need to pray more for those walking with Him and those who don't know Him.
The Lord is my light and my salvation. Psalm 27
Never give up~Pray all the time especially for others.
Dearest Sherry,
Thank you so much for sharing the OnCall Prayer journal. These are just a few nuggets of what He has been sharing with me! I love you!

Treasures Along the Way~~~````~~~
I was out walking yesterday with my little Lucas when I saw this beautiful flower! I posted it on my facebook as the treasure I almost missed. So often the word treasure falls after the word hidden. Maybe we should stop placing those two words together. God's treasures are there for us everyday! We just need to keep our eyes and hearts open so we don't miss out!!
One of my friends posted a comment on my facebook saying she had never seen anything like it! I immediately thought that was exactly what God says about us! Our personality, desires, dreams, choices, and relationship with God can never be copied. All of these things together make you one of a kind. There will never be anyone exactly like you!

Heavy Heart
My heart feels like I have a ton of bricks crushing it. I just have to tell you that sometimes I am simply flat-out mean to my oldest son, Carson. I am often impatient and quick to throw back some smart comment. The end result is feeling full of it! I could just kick myself for chipping away at his spirit. We haven't started Summer yet and I am right on track with him;( I decided the only solution for me was to gather up some armor=God's word! Proverbs 16:24 reminds me of the pleasant words that are sweet as a honeycomb to the soul and healing to the bones. Then Proverbs 15:4 the tongue that brings healing is a tree of life, but a deceitful tongue crushes the spirit. Finally, do not let any unwholesome talk come out of your mouths, but only what is helpful for building others up according to their needs, that it may benefit those who listen. Ephesians 4:29
Dear God,
Please help me choose pleasant words when instructing Carson. Please remove and replace the trigger inside of me that spouts out those negative statements. I need your help Lord daily to boost this little guy towards you. Guide my tongue and lead my heart towards all that is helpful and encouraging. May our team effort bring all the benefits needed in developing a strong foundation! I love Carson dearly and desire all blessings you have in store for him. Thank you in advance for your help! I love you!
In Jesus Name
Amen

The Human Eye
Last year was our first year to have professional pictures taken of our family. Once I received my disk it was extremely hard to decide which ones to print. So...I printed most of them and slapped them all into frames. They are an assortment of sizes from 4x6 to poster size. Well...As luck would have it we had another round of pictures taken around Easter. More pictures to place in frames for me to adore daily. Cameras are truly amazing at capturing those precious moments; freezing them in time for us to enjoy for many years. The individual components of the eye work in a similar manner to a camera. Each part plays a role in providing a clear picture for us. So what is the difference between what the human eye sees and the camera? I have been thinking about this myself and think there really isn't that big of a difference. The human eye takes snaps and samplings of things all day long but when it comes to people...Do we really "see" them? How many times have you met someone and thought to yourself, "not worth my time." Or maybe you thought something else about them and went ahead made some of your own assumptions. All of this from that first snap shot you took of them. Are you following me? How about this? When was the last time you received a brown box in the mail and instead of opening it you decided to throw it away because there was no pretty wrapping or a bow:0) Do you think you may have missed out on something? We (me included) should all take the time to unwrap and scratch the surface of our brothers and sisters. I bet we would all be pleasantly surprised!!! Let's go get those packages!!!! Jesus loved everyone!!!!!!!!!!!!

OOPS!!!
I guess by now you have figured out that I know the "shoulder tap" pretty well from God. Well, he tapped my shoulder a couple months ago. I was working out and I saw this woman getting ready in the locker room. My goodness she was so pretty and really knew how to put an outfit together. I finished cleaning up and shuffled out to my car. I was in my car when I saw her walking out to her car. It occured to me again how classy, pretty and sharp she was. And then....there it was...the shoulder tap! I was already driving!!! I drove around 2 times as she was walking to her car and chickened out! By the 3rd time she was already in her car and backing out. I figured at this point if I blocked her in she might think I had lost my mind!!! I missed it!!! My opportunity!! But...guess what??? One month later I met "Sheila". I was able to share the whole episode with her! She was very receptive and just as beautiful on the inside!
Thank goodness for second chances! From now on I am going to make sure I just do it! WE are His Messengers!! We are the hands, feet and mouth!!! God needs us to share his LOVE to his SWEETIES!! There are so many out there and He needs all of us to Listen!! Are you listening?? Do you know His voice?? Trust me....~>He is talking to YOU! AND...~>He is CRAZY about YOU!!!

Emmaus April 2007
So…My question for you is…How much do you love yourself?
Today is Wednesday. I had a laundry list of things to do, which happen to include 5 loads of laundry As time clicked away, my list was shrinking. Now all I need to do is pick out an outfit for tomorrow morning and pack my suitcase for my 3 night-4day walk to Emmaus.
I was excited for my trip because my husband had gone the weekend before. He said it was life changing. I could not wait to hear more, but you see I had to wait until I went before he could share. Well, it was now time to go to bed. But not after a few Body Combat moves on my husband, Ryan. He cracked and shared two more secrets. He had three other roommates and received thirty minutes to get ready in the morning. Was this what I should anticipate? Well, off to bed…Minutes of tossing quickly turned into hours of restlessness. God revealed many concerns of his and actions I needed to take. I felt overwhelmed and grateful for the awareness. Sweet isn’t it? I must confess a fraction of my night was also concerned about Ryan’s last two mysteries. Thirty minutes to get ready…should I pack more pants. Doesn’t look like I will have time to shave my legs. Oh. And my flat-iron (LOVE IT! Just picked it up two weeks ago-a real beauty) Will I be able to do my hair?
Thursday April 25 was my last day of Renew Women’s Bible Study. I was quite excited for our celebration which always included a luncheon and time to brag on God I could not wait to put on my outfit for the day. I have this gorgeous white skirt which my husband bought me two years ago for my birthday (LOVE IT!). Yeah, I was excited! It was expected to be a wonderful day. All I needed to do now was flatiron my hair. Huh, not warming up. Do I need to reset the outlet? No… How about the other outlet? Still nothing. I say with confidence and sincerity, I knew it was God sending me a little message. Have any thoughts? I made it to Renew and my hair turned out okay. I was deeply moved that morning knowing I have truly experienced a piece of heaven this year with my sisters in Renew!
What do you spend your time thinking about? Where is your outlet?
Are you broken?
My walk to Emmaus has truly changed my life I left feeling God in my heart, and I have returned seeing the face of Jesus. Do you know Him? Have you seen Him? Brothers and sisters I have returned home with a purpose. Do you know yours yet? I shared my flat-iron story tonight at dinner with my mother and father-in-law. Are you sharing what God is doing in your life? Later that evening I decided to plug my flat-iron in and give it one last chance before I would return it. It is now 2:00am. Yep, I know, still not sleeping after a restful weekend. Guess what I found? In the middle of darkness was a tiny red light. My flat-iron was now burning hot. Here are a few more questions to ponder…
What do you plug in to?
Are you a light which can be seen in the midst of darkness?
Around 4:00 am I plugged it in once more, not because of disbelief but because I just couldn’t help seeing Him again. We laughed together and I crawled back into bed.
So, what was your answer to my first question? How much do you love yourself? If your answer was a lot friend; than I am truly delighted for you. For I have just learned this year that “I am fearfully and wonderfully made….” Psalm
My last question for you are:
How much do you love Jesus?
P.s. I was terribly afraid to write this letter. You see writing is not a strength of mine. As I began to type the words on this page; my three year old asked if he could go outside and see the butterfly.
Life Changing? Yes! I walked away feeling Him in my heart, only to return seeing Him with my eyes. I love myself, but I will die for Jesus.
Your humble servant,
Nicole Maggart

"That" Girl
Were you ever "that" girl? Never quite measured up. What were you trying to measure up to? I guess I was always wishing for a better outward appearance. I loved what was on the inside a ton but just always wished I could just flip the inside out. I guess now that I am writing about this I suppose maybe I did succeed at that! I think I was liked by people and seemed to have plenty of friends. What people really knew back then was my heart and who I really was. Now fast forward 20 years and the message is even more clear! God does not see what the world sees (or what we see in ourselves). God sees us under a microscope and still thinks we are B-E-A-U-T-I-F-U-L! He cares about what is going on inside of us; where the true beauty is. I still have days when I get choked up thinking that I once thought I would never find anyone. I just really thought I might be alone forever! My first boyfriend was when I was 18 and he was..well...lets just say not what God really wanted for me. My dating days began to pick up a little when I went to college but I kept dating the supposed "hotties." AWFUL for me! I really lost myself in this season of my life. Not the proudest moments for me but God was still there with me. I remember thinking one day that I should find someone who treats me special and to stop looking on the outside. Two weeks later I met my knight in shining armor!!!! I know what you are thinking...I looked past the outward appearance...NOPE! He was actually adorable, cute, and handsome!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I just knew he was my special little package! I did not know God at the time but I just knew that for some reason he wanted to give me this gift!! Lord, Thank you! Thank you! Thank YOU! Ryan has been the best gift in my entire life and YOU were there to give him to me!!! He is an angel on this earth! I love HIM! I just pray that you will bless him and keep him safe all the days of his life!
The small things~
My boys are still small. At the tender ages of 5 and 7 they are just starting to find their way in this world with an AWESOME tour guide~>God. He has been revealing himself to our boys in more ways than one. I remember our first experience was when one of the boys gerbils became quite ill. The boys and I prayed for this little creature and I even asked for prayers in my bible study. This all happened on a Tuesday. That gerbil was seriously sick. So sick that it could hardly move and the other gerbil just kept pushing it around in the cage. I seperated them that Tuesday and tried my best to hand feed it. Later that evening our sick little gerbil was healed! Seriously! I put him back with his buddy and he lived for at least another year! It was God's healing! A couple weeks later one of them escaped and Carson was quick to send up prayer for help in catching it.Good thing he suggested it because I was about to EXPLODE! Seconds later we had that little sucker in hand! Awesome! I am notorious for misplacing things at home and now it is pretty common for me to pray for God's assistance in tracking these items. My boys have quickly caught on! (Although Carson always wants me to pray for help when he loses something. He thinks I have a direct line) It just doesn't matter how small or big your problem is...God cares and wants to help. It is pretty cool that we all have a direct line and we can dial our Father up at anytime and He is always home!

The Perfect Pedicure
I LOVE getting pedicures! My addiction started about 6 years ago over at Nails of America. I grew attached to Hannah. She is such a doll! By now she just feels like family. It was a nice Spring day when I was enjoying my luxurious pedicure when I saw this tall woman walk in with a sweater that resembled the color of this background. My first thought was, "great sweater!" My next thought was how striking she was. After about 20 minutes I was gently tucked under the foot dryer and Mrs. Blue Sweater was right next to me. It took less than a minute for God to nudge me. This was one that I really tried to ignore because I knew it was going to be awkward. Well...I went ahead and did it anyway. I said, "excuse me...I just wanted to tell you that I think you are absolutely beautiful but as funny as this sounds I feel like God wants me to tell you how beautiful He thinks you are." She was quiet for a minute and then opened up like a spring rose bud! After so much hurt and years of heartache a divorce was the outcome. She was just now getting out and had just recently started going back to church. She even found a really nice single group to connect with at her church. Uncomfortable? YES! Worth it? YES! She was suppose to hear how God feels about her. We are all messengers! God needs us to deliver His heart! He is counting on you! If you feel strange and uncomfortable doing something then you are on the right track!!! People will think you are weird if you are serving yourself but when you serve the LORD wholeheartedly=SUCCESS=MISSION Accomplished. (people may think you are weird regardless:) but WHO CARES! Ha! Ha!)
I saw Mrs. Blue Sweater not long ago at Black Walnut. I asked her if she remembered how beautiful she was? It took her a minute to figure out who I was but weird or not...I did what I was called to do. I feel good about it! God is at work everywhere! Even at the nail salon!
Las Vegas~ 2 Years Ago
Oh Yeah! Las Vegas baby! What happens here stays here right? Ryan and I decided to take a couple days and travel here for some fun loving! We ate at some incredible restaurants and even tried foi gras! Which for the record was disgusting! We saw the Blue Man group and many beautiful hotels. But mostly we just enjoyed each others company and reconnected like old times. Our days were usually filled with lots of walking and it was pretty typical to see homeless people scattered about begging for money. It wasn't until our last day that I saw him. We were already down the escalator when my heart was being squeezed. I asked Ryan for some money and he was not exactly Mr. Cooperative. He fussed with me a bit and then finally forked over some money. I shot back up the escalator and met up with this gentle soul hunched at the corner of the bridge. I sat down and began chatting with him. I asked him about his family and honestly I didn't waist time asking him if he knew Jesus. He replied with a confident yes. As the tears filled my eyes I was quick to relay the message of how much God loves and adores him. We ended our conversation with a prayer and kiss on his head. I handed him the money and off I went back down the escalator to meet up with Ryan again.
Back home I began unpacking and realized that not everything stays in Vegas. I will never forget Don. He is one of God's children. He is someones son, father, uncle, grandpa......He is one of God's beloved~ Who knows what Don did with the money after I left him. Does it even matter? There was message he needed to hear....You are loved! Your are precious! You are not forgotten~
Can you just imagine how many people are out there who feel like they have been forgotten. Hard to believe there are brothers and sisters out there who do know Jesus personally and yet are still empty. What are we to do? I say get BUSY!!! God's sweeties are everywhere! Each one of us can make a generational difference!!! God has put a special request on each one of our hearts. What is He saying to yours??? GET BUSY!! Have FUN! Share HIS LOVE!

The highlighted smile:0)))))
Today was such a sweet day with my angel bud Leanord. I'm glad Ryan's mom was with me to see just how special he is! My first witness of God's affections! I am really not going crazy!:) After leaving Leanord we were on our way to pick up my little Lukey from school and then hit Sam's Club for a few things. As soon as we walked in I SAW him! My sweet little check-out guy was working the exit!!! I gotta tell you that I have never shopped so fast. I was literally chucking stuff in my cart so I could make sure I saw him. You see...I have been carrying a card in my purse for 3 weeks in anticipation of seeing this little sweetie! I would say he is in his 20's and wheelchair bound. His brightness could power up all of Sam's Club. I find myself thinking of him often. I SEE him! Today was finally my chance to share with him just how special he was! As we approached the receipt clearing exit my heart began to pound. I had my card in hand...ready to give...Nana and I handed him our receipts with the anticipation of that glorious highlighted smiley face....................WHAT! No SMILEY face!!!! Today he just put a SCRATCH on my paper! I handed him my card and gave him the biggest hug I could give. I teased him for not giving us the smiley face! His expression was PRICELESS! What did I put in his card? My hope was that he not only felt loved and special today but everyday for the rest of his life! Who is this guy? KENNETH!!! You better give that boy a big squeeze if you ever see him! Who have you seen lately????

The EYES have it~
I was finally going to get my car serviced today even if it meant bringing Lukey's friend with us! We arrived at the Honda dealership without a hitch. The children were having a blast together and were quick to get settled into the lobby chairs. I found my seat and immediately noticed him. My gosh! This older gentleman had the most beautiful---big---blue eyes you have ever seen! On top of that they were just so shiny!!!! I was already feeling the urge to say something when I decided to get a bag of complimentary popcorn instead. I extended the offer to Mr. Blue eyes and he accepted. When I sat back down he shared some dark chocolate with me. We chatted some about how good dark chocolate is and how he doesn't really care for milk chocolate. We talked about family, kids, life, and God. At one point he looked at me with the cutest little curvy smile and asked me if I knew Jesus as my Lord and Savor? YES I do!!! The flood gates really opened now in our conversation. We had the most intimate conversation amongst all the other action going on in the lobby. I have never listened more intently. This little sweetie was surely an angel! We both experienced some wetness in our eyes during our hour together. At one point I was almost feeling upset inside thinking about all the other people around me who were missing out. My thought was...Don't they see him??
They just don't slice them any cuter. Those blues eyes landed on mine and he said, "so your my sister!" I wish you all could meet him. My new angel friend has a name: Leonard. Leonard is such a bright light for the LORD! He loves Him soooo much! One thing that has broken Leonard's heart is the loss of his beautiful wife Eleanor. She passed in 2007 after a long battle with cancer. At one point in our conversation Leonard pulled out of his satchel a bundle of envelopes. Enclosed are love letters to his beloved Eleanor. He gave me a copy of one the poems and letters!
I walked with Leonard out to his little Honda Fit car. He just had to tell me that he loves to give HUGS!!! He was talking to the right person!!!! I gave him several hugs and kisses.......Driving home was exciting but sad for me too! I was already missing him! He told me he loved me (I know it is true) He told me he would pray for me and my family (I know he will) I told him I would keep in touch a pray for him too! I also wanted to share his heart with you all~:0) Enjoy the love and pass it on. I would only ask that if you feel moved to.....would you send my angel friend a note on how his letter has touched you? I pray you will all "see" what God sees! AMEN!!

Dear Eleanor,
I wish I could find words to describe how much I love you, how much I care about you, and how much you mean to me. My life would be so empty without you. When I'm not near you, I feel so lonely. I believe I fall in love with you anew each day. You mean so much to me. We have spent most of our lives together and we have so many memories. God has blessed us. When we got married there were three partners. You and I, and the Lord. He made it all possible. If there is such a thing or person as a female angel, then I married one. You are my angel. God gave us a house, but you made it a home. We are surrounded by things that you have touched, you have made with your own hands. You have done so much in my life, I am so grateful to you. You made me a father. You gave me sons who bear my name. And I know you risked your life in doing so. There is a song that goes:
"You are my sunshine, my only sunshine. You make me happy when skies are gray. You'll never know dear, how much I love you, Please don't take my sunshine away."
We are in our September years, our days are growing shorter. And the shadows of night linger on. Please go with me, we still have a way to go. I need you by my side. There are seeds to sow. There are souls to win. There are people to love. There is hurting to hug. Some day we will lay our sleeves at Jesus' feet and hope and pray that not one will be missing. That we somehow did accomplish what the Lord has done for us. Our life has been like a ride on a stage coach, out of the old west. The path was rough, we covered much ground. Satan sent bandits all along to destroy our work. But you were my faithful partner. You rode shotgun with me. And I was never alone when you were with me. We stopped along the way, many times, to pick up strangers. People who hurt, people who needed someone to love them. People who've lost their way. People who just gave up because they could go no further. We helped them along the way because they were worthy. Jesus loved them. Why shouldn't we? Hopefully we took them to their destination. We have a way to go, please go with me! I want you to be my partner so long as we live. God has proved to me that one plus one can equal one. We are one. When God locked our hearts together, He kept the key. I hope he threw it away, because we will never need it. You are my faithful wife. My lifelong sweetheart. My prayer partner. My best friend and my sister in the Lord. We are now facing a difficult time in our life, your illness has brought on another trial that we will trust the Lord. The Lord's Will must be done but I will pray that He will heal you. That the people know that our God will not let us alone. Jesus said, He will never forsake you. He'll go with you 'til the end and I agree with Him, I will never leave you or forsake you. I love you so much. Thank you for being my sweetheart. You will always be, No one will take your place or could. For you're God's gift to me. I hope the day comes when the two of us can stand face to face with our Lord and I can take your hand and thank Him and tell Him how grateful I am that He chose you and saved you just for me. How wonderful. I wouldn't want it any other way. I don't know how I could change anything, but I do wish I could find words to describe how much I love you. I love you my sweetheart. I care about you. Thank you for your love. Thank you for all you've done for me. You will always be my sweetheart. Let us walk together until the Lord call us home.
All my love,
Leonard

All my love,
Leonard

God created an angel in heaven
And did it just for me
He filled her with His precious love
To share it just with me
Her heart was made of purest gold
And was designed just for me
Her life was like the Lord she loved
It was an example even to me
She shared her unselfish love for all
And that she did with me
She touched the hurting world she loved
And that included me
She fulfilled her time God set for her
And always took time for me
This angel sent from a loving God
Is now waiting just for me
She is free at last of all her pain
Her memories are left with me
Her life's partner
